Do we need hope? Isn’t hope even more stressfu

Do we need hope? Isn’t hope even more stressful than despair, which we seem to be able to surrender to and laugh about way more easily? Or does despair simply feel more intimate? A cozy homecoming? If there is no hope, are we automatically in despair? Or can we simply accept things as they are, make the best or worst of the day, and stop thinking about all the implications?
